1. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: Opportunity to create an institute for video-based engineering education research

Multi-university team of STEM education researchers beginning to plan an Institute for Video-Based Engineering Education Research. Advanced grad students, postdocs, and faculty are welcome. If you’re interested, please fill out the interest survey below and feel free to forward the opportunity to others who may be interested.

Details:
We are a multi-university team of STEM education researchers beginning to plan an Institute for Video-Based Engineering Education Research. We envision a one- to two-year experience featuring a mentored team-based video analysis project. Highlights would include:

  • Funding provided for all expenses for annual 2-day in-person workshops in Miami

  • IRB-approved video data of engineering learning experiences provided for participant teams to apply different approaches to video analysis

  • One or two year-long team-based video analysis projects, with mentoring from experienced video researchers from the STEM/engineering education community (via monthly 90-minute virtual gatherings)

  • Opportunity for mentoring through complete project – IRB, data collection, management, analysis, and publication

  • Teams invited to publish on the results of their video analysis projects in a special issue and/or book and other venues

We’d like our planning to be informed by the interests of the community. If you or people you know might be interested in taking part, please take our 2-minute survey (https://tufts.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bduDgTcr5whPJ9s?jfefe=new) to share your interest and contact information so that we can include you in updates.  With any questions, please contact Kristen Wendell at kristen.wendell@tufts.edu
