 3. (Call for Participation) Fall 2022 Open House – Florida International University Engineering and Computing Education Ph.D. Program

The School of Universal Computing, Construction, and Engineering Education (SUCCEED) was formed in 2018 as the first engineering and computing education department at a minority-serving institution. SUCCEED is home to an Engineering and Computing Education Ph.D. program where students conduct and direct research in engineering and/or computing education. Students also develop skills as educators and address critical issues facing engineering and computing education, especially in equity, diversity, and inclusion. This program seeks to develop students for a diverse set of professional trajectories both inside and outside university/college settings.
We invite you to learn more about our program by attending our open house for our Engineering and Computing Education Ph.D. program in October. Participants are invited to attend on-campus October 14, or virtually on October 13. Both versions of the open house will provide an overview of the program, an overview of the application process, and opportunities to meet current graduate students and SUCCEED faculty.

5. (Call for Participation) Rowan University: Engineering Education Graduate Program (Ph.D.) Fall 2022 Virtual Open House

We invite prospective graduate students to join the faculty and current graduate students from Rowan University’s Experiential Engineering Education Department (ExEEd) for a virtual open house on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm EDT (UTC-4). The virtual open house will provide an overview of the Ph.D. in Engineering program with a concentration in Engineering Education at Rowan University. It will also introduce prospective students to the various research focus areas for faculty within the department, and provide an opportunity to meet some of the current graduate students and learn more about their experiences in the program. 7. (Call for Participation) University of Michigan Engineering Education Research: Prospective Student Open House (HYBRID)
We are excited to invite all interested students to attend an open house to learn about UM’s graduate program in Engineering Education Research (EER). UM’s EER program represents a unique, interdisciplinary model: EER Ph.D. students (who enjoy a full funding package) are part of a college-wide program, while several tenure-line EER faculty are embedded within the traditional engineering departments. The integrated nature of the program allows the EER faculty and their research groups to be well-integrated with the traditional engineering disciplines, and it provides students a better opportunity to engage in innovative research and make scholarly contributions to the engineering education community. Students from all institutions are invited to attend, whether in-person or by Zoom (a zoom link will be emailed prior to the program).   3. Postdoctoral Research Fellows at The Alliance for Identity-Inclusive Computing Education (AiiCE)
The Alliance for Identity-Inclusive Computing Education (AiiCE) is hiring 3 Postdoctoral Research Fellows with interests in the intersection of identity and computing. The AiiCE-Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (AiiCE-PRF) aims to increase the number of postdoctoral researchers (postdocs) from groups that are historically underrepresented (i.e., Black, Indigenous, Latinx, women, LGBTQ+, disabled, first-generation college graduates, and their intersections) and the number of postdocs performing identity-inclusive computing education research. CS/STEM Ed, Sociology, and other related STEM, social science, and humanities disciplines are encouraged to apply.  4. Lafayette College TT Position in Engineering, Social Justice, and Inclusive STEM Studies.
The Lafayette College Engineering Studies Program invites applications for a new full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position focused on Engineering, Social Justice, and inclusive STEM studies to begin Academic Year 2023-2024. The program is a leader in undergraduate engineering education, offering a unique, interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree in engineering at an undergraduate-only liberal arts college that offers four ABET-accredited BS engineering degrees. The new faculty member will teach courses at the intersections of engineering, public policy, and inclusive STEM studies. This position will help to expand the Program’s course offerings and research related to engineering and social justice, inclusive practices in engineering education, questions of identity in the engineering design process, and/or equity and inclusion in the implementation of technologies for the public good. The position is integral to the strategic direction of our new Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education and represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the scope and impact of this interdisciplinary center as well as the Program, Engineering Division, and College.Preferred candidates will hold at least one degree in engineering (undergraduate and/or graduate) and, by July 1, 2023, will have received a Ph.D. in engineering or other field that prepares them for this interdisciplinary position, such as Engineering Education, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and Engineering and Public Policy. The teaching load is five courses per year (four in the faculty member’s first year), including sharing teaching responsibilities for the required Engineering and Public Policy course and offering electives from the candidate’s area of expertise. Two of those five courses will be in Inclusive STEM Studies (accessible to students from all majors) in coordination with the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education. Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Engineering Education at the University of ConnecticutThe University of Connecticut (UConn) is pleased to invite applications for an open-rank, tenured, or tenure-track faculty position in the School of Engineering with a focus on Engineering Education Research.  Candidates may have a background in any of the engineering disciplines represented in the School (see https://www.engr.uconn.edu/), in addition to Engineering Education, STEM Education, or another closely related area. Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) is a growing area of interest at UConn, with discipline-based education researchers across several science and engineering disciplines. There is a strong track record of educational research on campus, and partnerships with educational researchers in the nationally recognized Neag School of Education are common (https://education.uconn.edu/).  6. Assistant/Associate Professor of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College
Harvey Mudd College invites applications for multiple open field tenure-track faculty positions in our General Engineering program. The Department of Engineering seeks a cohort of new colleagues with experience and knowledge in applications of engineering who can excel in teaching a broadly-based undergraduate curriculum focused on design, signals and systems, and engineering science. Candidates working at the interfaces of engineering disciplines who can help students to make connections across fields are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, professional growth, and promoting equity and inclusion among diverse students and colleagues. A Ph.D. or equivalent (terminal) degree in engineering or a closely related field is required. Industrial or other practical experience in the field is valued.  7. Assistant Tenure-Track Faculty Position, Workforce Education at the University of Georgia
The Department of Career & Information Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Workforce Education to begin August 2023. The position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment with the possibility of summer employment. A doctorate in career and technical education, workforce education, or related field earned by the start date of the position is required. The department is interested in qualified candidates with prior research and/or instructional expertise related to career and technical education (CTE) teaching and learning at the secondary level, and the capacity for mentorship and teaching about issues across career and technical education disciplines.  8. Visiting Assistant Professor Position in Eng. Education at Purdue University
The School of Engineering Education at Purdue University invites applications for multiple Visiting Assistant Professors. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in engineering education research ranging from pre-kindergarten through college and into engineering practice. Candidates must have a Ph.D., with at least one degree in engineering, education, or a related field.The Visiting Assistant Professor will primarily teach in the first-year engineering (FYE) program, which includes two foundational courses: ENGR 131 – Transforming Ideas to Innovation I, and, ENGR 132 – Transforming Ideas to Innovation II, which focus on the engineering design cycle and programming languages, specifically MATLAB.  Based on enrollment needs, the Visiting Assistant Professor may teach other courses in the FYE program or in the multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary (MDE/IDE) program.The teaching load will be two courses in each of the academic year semesters.  Other responsibilities may include pursuing an independent research program on the candidate’s interests and other duties as assigned. Required Experience: Expertise in engineering education research ranging from pre-kindergarten through college and into engineering practice.

 9. Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor, Fundamentals of Engineering Program, West Virginia University
The Fundamentals of Engineering Program (FEP) at West Virginia University invites applications and nominations for a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor position. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank position that is eligible for promotion and merit raises, which involves a level of effort of about 80% assigned to teaching and 20% assigned to departmental service. The teaching function involves classroom teaching of approximately 7 to 8 sections of Fundamental Engineering courses per academic year. The service element of the position involves serving on faculty committees, serving as liaison to other WVU units, and participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities.Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of a Ph.D. or Ed.D., including a B.S. and/or M.S. in engineering or a closely-related STEM field and a minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching at a senior high school level or above at the time of the appointment. The MEERCat center has $8M in funded research grants over the past 7 years focused on engineering education research in an engineering context, with a particular interest in research-to-practice initiatives to support student academic and professional outcomes. MEERCat research considered student outcomes at the course level via the Freeform grant, which takes a deep dive into student performance, faculty experience, and background factors to understand how they contribute to success in a core sophomore-level course. The RED grant considered how departmental culture influences the outcomes students achieve, as well as their experiences throughout the undergraduate program. The SUCCESS grant examined non-cognitive factors (personality, grit, identity, etc.) and their effect on student outcomes. Our newest Propagation project (funded via NSF IUSE) explores how the Freeform system is adapted and adopted by instructors at other institutions. This five-institution collaboration has already yielded a massive dataset of both quantitative and qualitative information.

MEERCat Post-doc role and responsibilities: We seek a post-doctoral scholar to be the lead qualitative researcher on the Propagation project. The ideal candidate for this role has significant experience with qualitative methods, prior experience in research-to-practice projects, an understanding of and appreciation for how large research teams achieve their objectives, and a significant ambition to publish meaningful research in quality outlets.
