BED and KEEN scholarships for ASEE virtual conference registration

ASEE BED Members,

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to draw your attention to a few initiatives that ASEE has announced to help support members who are struggling to attend the upcoming Virtual Annual Conference .

One pathway involves scholarships being provided by a generous grant from KEEN/engineeringunleashed.com. More details and an application can be found at the following link:

https://fs30.formsite.com/cpost/qn2xbjtjub/index.html

Additionally, the BED has been granted permission to offer a scholarship using funds from our BASS account in support of the registration fee for one of our members. Our intent is to help a member who isn’t getting financial support from their institution to attend, and therefore is paying out of their own pocket. We also would like to prioritize authors since the publish-to-present model is in play here. Members who are interested can use the following link to apply:

https://forms.gle/giZx4sNn9mWrhWxD7

Please apply by Friday, May 15. After prioritizing the applicant pool for authors, a random drawing will be held to select the winner.

Thanks, and take care!

Survey on changes due to COVID-19

Dear Colleague,

We are reaching out to you because you lead a division within ASEE. We kindly request that you share our survey link (below) along with the following basic information about the study with your members.

We are conducting a study on 1) the changes that you have had to make or are planning to make to your engineering coursesand 2) the challenges your engineering undergraduate students are facing in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Your responses will help us summarize the types of changes being made as well as put together a repository of those changes that we then can share. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. Results will be shared only in the aggregate.

If you agree to take the survey, we ask you to consider forwarding it to other colleagues of yours leading the engineering programs in the U.S. All those who complete the survey can enter a raffle of 10 Amazon gift cards worth $50 each.

The study has been approved by the University of Houston IRB. If you have questions about the approval, you may contact the IRB at (713) 743-9204 or cphs@central.uh.edu. If you have questions about the study, you may contact either one of us.
