Lecturer at the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Position Description: The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is recruiting a professional-track (non-tenure track) lecturer to teach both bachelor’s and master’s courses in biomedical engineering. This is a full-time 12- month position. Appointments will be made at the rank of Principal Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments.

Required Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree or its professional equivalent in biomedical engineering or related field including mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering. Individuals with industrial experience, a working knowledge of biomechanics, biotransport, bioinstrumentation, biosignal processing, or statistics are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability and commitment to education, and an interest in participating in developing innovative learning environments for students. In addition, the candidate will have strong leadership qualities and an ability to successfully interact and communicate with students, faculty, and industry professionals.

About the Department: The Coulter Department has 61 FTE tenure- and professional-track faculty members and awards approximately 250 bachelor’s, 35 master’s and 30 doctoral degrees annually. The department’s undergraduate and graduate programs are both #3 in the most recent in U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Salary: The salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Visiting Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Lowell

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a full-time Visiting Lecturer with expertise in Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to begin work in September 2019 and assist in teaching a range of BME courses that may include: Applications Programming (MatLab), Medical Device Design, Bioinstrumentation and Lab, Quantitative Physiology and Lab, Biomechanics, Thermodynamics, Transport Phenomena, Biomaterials, as well as other courses as required. In addition to delivering high-quality courses, the position includes service contributions to the Department and the University.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Applicants must have earned Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or closely-related discipline to be considered

  • College-level teaching experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to speak and write English clearly
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and diverse populations
