The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites applications for multiple new faculty positions in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing (2 positions), Human Factors and Ergonomics (1 position), and Operations Research and Analytics (1 position). All positions are expected to begin in August 2023.  The positions are open to candidates at all ranks; Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Exceptional candidates with commensurate experience and proven track record will be considered for a named Professorship.

 

The successful applicants will be participating in all aspects of the department’s mission, including developing a strong externally funded research program, teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in service to the university and profession.

 

The new $54 million Therkildsen Industrial Engineering Building is planned to open by early 2025 with more than 50,000 square feet of space dedicated to the department’s teaching, research, and outreach activities.

 

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent in Industrial Engineering or a closely aligned field.

Associate Professor candidates must also meet the university standards for appointment to the rank, including significant experience/accomplishments in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Full Professor candidates are required to have national distinction, international recognition, and a substantial scholarly record in their area of expertise, in addition to the aforementioned requirements.

CECM-CSM Division – Faculty Position at the Rank of Assistant Professor

The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking applications for a tenure‐track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the area of Construction Science and Management (CSM) and with the ability to work in a multicultural, diverse and inclusive environment, beginning August 2022. CECM is one of the five Schools/Departments within the College of Engineering and Integrated Design at UTSA.

 

Candidates should be interested in fostering collaborative research and education to create interdisciplinary areas of knowledge that will advance the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the area of construction science and management. The successful candidate should have a strong background in machine learning and data science, with applications including, but not limited to, predictive data analytics, computer vision, robotics, human-centered AI, explainable AI, natural language processing, deep reinforcement learning systems, and expert systems for decision making and solving complex problems in construction. The successful candidate is also expected to interact strongly with MATRIX, the UTSA AI Consortium for Human Well-Being, to advance AI research and scholarship. In addition, the successful candidate must possess demonstrated ability to 1) work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations, 2) support the University’s commitment to continue thriving as a Hispanic Serving Institution, and 3) be a role model for student success. Responsibilities for the position include developing and teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, conducting scholarly research, pursuing external research funding, and making service contributions within the University, the construction industry, and the profession. The Construction Science and Management (CSM) Division in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM), offers a 120‐credit‐hour B.S. degree in Construction Science and Management accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). The division currently has 7 full‐time faculty members, significant industry support and involvement, and an enrollment of over 300 undergraduate students, many of whom are Hispanic. The faculty also mentors Ph.D. students in the Construction Science and Management track within the Civil Engineering doctoral program. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the university at the school level, in its mission as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The CSM Division is located in downtown San Antonio, one of America’s oldest and most vibrant urban environments, where design, construction, and research find unique topics of inquiry.

 

Required Qualifications:

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for an open rank teaching position. The position is a non-tenure track appointment as either Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor, with title contingent on the qualifications of the candidate. The College of Engineering and Integrated Design (CEID) at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking applications for two Assistant Professors in the field of Manufacturing, Industrial and/or Systems Engineering. The full-time, tenure-track positions, with primary appointments in the Department of Mechanical Engineering will begin in August 2022 and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

We are interested in candidates with strong expertise in any of the following areas: Operations Research, Data Science, Supply Chain Network Design, and Advanced/Intelligent/Smart Manufacturing. Collaboration with government and industry, along with the wide array of centers and institutes at UTSA is expected. Research aligned with national priorities such as decarbonization of manufacturing; securing supply chain networks, bulk power systems, and/or critical infrastructure is desired. In particular, collaboration with the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII) is strongly desired.

Optimally, the successful candidates should perform research in cybersecurity manufacturing (Integration of Information/Operational Technologies; Cyber Physical Systems) with a focus on (1) devising novel artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optimization algorithms tailor-made for automated processes; and (2) designing integrated supply chain networks to provide a robust methodology for sensor-dense manufacturing environments.

The Assistant Professors will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering and are expected to support the upcoming B.S. program in Industrial and Systems Engineering, as well as the current M.S. program in Advanced Manufacturing and Enterprise Engineering, and the M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidates will also need to have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational necessities of a diverse urban population and be committed to advancing the University’s mission as a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

Iowa State University – Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites nominations and applications for two new faculty positions in the department: 1) associate or full professor with a scholarly focus in operations research / data analytics and 2) assistant professor with scholarly focus in any area of industrial engineering.  Both positions are expected to begin in August 2022. The successful applicant will be participating in all aspects of the department’s mission, including developing a strong externally funding research program, teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in service to the university and profession.

 

Required Qualifications for Position 1 (associate or full professor)

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in industrial engineering or a closely aligned field
  • Scholarly accomplishments commensurate with qualifications for the rank at Iowa State University

Preferred Qualifications for Position 1 (associate or full professor)              

  • Research and teaching interests in operations research/data analytics
  • Evidence of prominent national/international stature
  • Evidence of collaboration and scholarly leadership in research and education
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity/inclusivity

Position Description: The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering position with an anticipated start date of August 2022. We seek individuals whose research and teaching interests are in all areas of data analytics that align with the department’s emphasis in the applications of quantitative modeling and analysis. Examples include, but are not limited to, quality and reliability engineering, logistics and distribution, healthcare systems, machine learning, manufacturing systems, computing and cyber-physical systems. We seek individuals who can contribute to modernizing undergraduate and graduate curricula, growing the graduate program, and the university’s new cross-college, interdisciplinary Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R). I3R was established via a $194.7 million grant from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation to grow cross-disciplinary research capability, expand the scope of discoveries, and increase commercialization of research.
