Are you interested in gathering to talk about mental health and wellness in engineering?
The Mental Health and Wellness in Engineering Virtual Community is an informal, approximately monthly meeting to discuss topics of mental health and wellness and initiate collaborations. Previous topics have included mid-semester overwhelm, inclusive syllabus development, and authenticity. All are welcome. Topics and discussions, as well as event days and times, will rotate each month. You are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions that make sense for your schedule.

4. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: CoNECD 2025 – Call for Abstracts for Papers/Special Session/Workshops/Panels
The 2025 Collaborative Network for Engineering and Computing Diversity Conference will be in San Antonio, TX from February 9 to 11, 2024. Authors should submit an extended abstract between 300 and 500 words on their paper/presentation topic. The deadline to submit the abstract is May 31, 2024. CoNECD will accept both papers and presentations as final submissions.

5. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: 2024 preK-12 Engineering Education Teacher Conference
This summer, the annual PreK-12 Engineering Education Teacher Conference will be at Portland State University on June 22, 2024. Hundreds of Portland-area formal and informal engineering educators will attend 24 active learning sessions across four grade bands on our theme, Increasing and Diversifying Access to STEM.
In addition to the awesome sessions and speakers, attending teachers will receive a $100 stipend plus free coffee, snacks, and a catered lunch.

3. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Two teaching-focused positions in our Engineering Pathways program University at Oklahoma Polytechnic Institute
The Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma invites applicants for two teaching-focused positions in our Engineering Pathways program. This newly launched program has dedicated faculty who are committed to our vision of providing all students with the opportunity and support needed to succeed in an engineering major. Specifically, the successful candidates will join the collaborative and collegial EP team which collectively contribute to teaching and mentoring first- and second-year engineering students and to providing additional support for mathematics success for engineering problem-solving. Candidates with experience or expertise in first-year engineering education or in supporting mathematics success for engineering problem solving are strongly encouraged to apply.

4. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Associate Director of STEM Gateway Learning Center, Ohio State University
The Associate Director of the STEM Gateway Learning Center has three core roles: co-manage the operations of The Center with the Director (35%), developing curricula for the mentors (25%) and tutors to enable them to excel in their roles, and engaging in scholarly research (40%) on the center’s activities. The areas of STEM supported by the center include Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics. The co-management involves informally supporting students and working with the director to coordinate hours of access to the center. The scholarly research involves remaining current in STEM Education literature and using this strong understanding of the current research in the STEM education environments to develop curricula for the peer mentors and the tutors and to ensure excellence in support of STEM instruction. This individual must have a strong background in STEM education research and assessment in order to provide a deep evaluating the progress of the center’s mentoring and tutoring program in terms of effectiveness is promoting student’s sense of belonging in a STEM major, and in effective transfer of knowledge in the peer mentoring programming and the tutoring programming. The results of these evaluations will be used to ensure that the Center is a true leader in STEM mentoring and tutoring nationally. The individual will be expected to make presentations on research results at national STEM conferences and within the university to support the overall progress of STEM education within the university. Continuous collaboration with instructors within the College of Arts and Sciences STEM departments is critical to providing mentoring and tutoring to the STEM students that is aligned with the content of the courses. Supervises two academic program specialists whose roles are to support the ASC STEM majors of mathematics, chemistry and biochemistry, biology and physics through the development of a bridge program, and academic as well as social programming throughout the academic year. Work with the Arts and Sciences Marketing and Communication Leadership to develop communication strategies about the activities of the center and its successes. Work with that team to develop a center website and maintain the website. Participate in other university-wide meetings affiliated with student success. Represent The Center, as necessary, on behalf of The Director. Remain current on higher education mentoring literature and best practices. Then shares these findings with the larger STEM Education & Student Success community.
Required: Ph.D. in STEM Education, STEM, or related field. Has published work on related STEM topics such STEM student support, mentoring and tutoring for enhanced sense of belonging of STEM and or effectiveness in STEM education performance. Experience with program and unit assessment. Background of successfully mentoring of STEM students. 2 years managerial experience. 2 years experience in teaching STEM courses. Excellent written and communication skills. Demonstrated experience addressing the educational and academic needs of the STEM student population. Experience in fostering inclusivity. Experience in fostering an innovative learning environment. Experience to function independently and as a member of a collaborative team. Experience in facilitating community, foster STEM identity and mentoring diverse STEM students. A strong record of scholarly activity.
Desired: Doctorate degree in STEM or a STEM-related degree. Participation in STEM-oriented community service.

5. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Two full-time postdoctoral fellows for Black Education and STEM Equity at Northwestern University
We are seeking two full-time post-doctoral fellows for a grant-funded project titled, “Co- designing STEM Ecologies with Black Communities: Centering History, Heterogeneity, Power, and Place.”Fellows will be part of a research team led by Drs. Sepehr Vakil, kihana miraya ross, and Nichole Pinkard, who are conducting a historical and ethnographic investigation of Black families’ experiences, values, and aspirations for equitable STEM education in Evanston, Illinois. Members of this research team are also working with the local school district, city entities, as well as Black families and community partners, to support efforts to design STEM opportunities for Black students in the city, including within a new K-5 school and adjoined community center. This research-community-practice partnership (RCPP) will create tools, processes, and/or programs centering Black community goals and values within in-school and out-of- school STEM ecologies in Evanston.

10. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

12. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Assistant Professor with a focus on Higher Education and Qualitative Methods at the University of Pittsburgh
The Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy invites applications for an open rank (assistant, associate, or full) professor from outstanding candidates who conduct critical, rigorous, theoretically grounded qualitative research on higher education institutions, community college leadership, and/or college student development. 13. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Research and Evaluation Associate, Rural Institute on Disabilities, University of Montana
The University of Montana invites applications for a Research and Evaluation Associate. The Research and Evaluation Associate will conduct research and evaluation activities across a range of topics including early childhood care and education, HIV care and prevention, and health equity in health systems. The Research Associate will create survey and interview data collection tools, conduct interviews and focus groups, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and contribute to reporting and dissemination activities. This position requires the ability to collect and analyze data using credible, feasible, and culturally appropriate procedures. It also requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
The employee assigned to this position may supervise one to two undergraduate or graduate students who will serve as research assistants. The individual in this position will delegate work assignments and oversee the performance of these graduate students.
