An important form of scholarly communication happens via guest editorials within the Journal of Engineering Education. This mechanism enables timely commentary on pressing issues and enables authors to communicate their expertise on a topic in a format that differs from other kinds of manuscript submissions. 2. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Teaching track faculty position in Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Southern Mississippi

The School of Polymer Science and Engineering (SPSE) at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Assistant Teaching Professor to begin in August 2024. This renewable, non-tenure-track position is eligible for progression and promotion in academic rank. The position is predominantly oriented toward effective undergraduate instruction within our ABET accredited bachelor’s degree program, with opportunities to support senior engineering design projects and undergraduate research. We are looking for a candidate who has strengths in the fundamentals of polymer science and engineering and who is enthusiastic to develop and bring innovative pedagogical practices and educational frameworks into our courses. The instructional load for teaching-track faculty at USM is 12 credit hours (or equivalent) per semester.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach lecture and laboratory-based courses in polymer science and engineering (primarily at the undergraduate level)
  2. Contribute to the mission of the program through continuous curriculum improvement, student recruitment and retention, and student

advisement and mentorship

  1. Engage in professional development and scholarly activities to implement innovative, effective, and inclusive pedagogical practices both

within and outside of the classroom

  1. Interact with external partners including industry, national labs, and funding agencies to develop opportunities for student professional

development and career readiness

  1. Assist with the assessment and evaluation of programs for accreditation purposes

4. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: ASTRO ACCEL and STEM Education, Engagement, Communications Researcher Position

We are seeking a STEM Research Associate who will report to the Director of STEM Education and Public Engagement, and is responsible for conducting research on human and organizational network development and evolution, and various STEM education research topics focused in the areas of a) astronomy education, engagement, communications, and culture, b) STEM accessibility, c) Earth-space sciences, and d) Climate Science and Clean/Renewable Energy. The STEM Research Associate works to develop and implement all aspects of research from initial design through publication. 6. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Multiple positions at UC Davis

UC Davis College of Engineering is hiring three Assistant Professor of Teaching (PoT) positions this year. These positions are analogous to a research faculty position (security is the equivalent of tenure), but there is more focus on teaching and scholarship/professional activities in engineering education. These are relatively new positions that started in 2015.

9. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in Cybersecurity Education at Purdue University

The School of Engineering Education and School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue seek a postdoctoral fellow to study cybersecurity competence for cyber-physical systems engineering.  The objective of this project is to develop a framework of cybersecurity competence by establishing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to engineer secure cyber-physical systems. One focus of the research project will be human-subjects research with industry and government practitioners, such as our partners at Rolls Royce, Cisco, ThreatModeler, and the US Coast Guard to characterize the KSAs necessary for success in engineering secure cyber-physical systems. The second focus will be developing and piloting assessments of these KSAs suitable for use with undergraduate and graduate students.

A strong applicant will have prior research experience in relevant areas including cybersecurity education, computing education, or engineering education. An ideal applicant would have training both in computing (e.g. electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science) and in educational learning theories and research methods. Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills, ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, and experience and interest in working in an interdisciplinary context.

This is a nine-month academic-year appointment starting August 1, 2024. Candidates must have earned a doctorate in an engineering discipline, engineering education, cognitive science, education, or psychology by the start of the appointment. The College of Engineering at the University of Michigan is excited to announce our search for an established,  tenured/tenure-track faculty member as part of our unique, interdisciplinary engineering education research (EER)  program. The faculty member hired through this search will join a community that includes eight core EER faculty –  they will conduct EER as their main form of scholarship and will be embedded in one of the traditional engineering departments within the College of Engineering (https://www.engin.umich.edu/departments/).
