Invitation to Participate in Engineering Misinformation Survey

We are Drs. Rachelle Pedersen (Assistant Professor Texas Tech University) and Sarah Poor (Postdoctoral Scholar University of Missouri) and are writing this email to recruit participants for an anonymous online study we are conducting that you and your colleagues may be interested in. The purpose of this project is to examine what kinds of misinformation (especially STEM misinformation) that engineers face regarding their work and how that misinformation impacts their work. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this amongst those in your department/college/organization. Here is more survey information:

If you’re interested, you will take one anonymous survey (approximately 10-15 minutes in length; linked below). If you need to pause, you can close out of the survey and return to it within one week.

Eligibility & Confidentiality: You must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate and be currently working as an engineer (regardless of discipline). Those who have worked as an engineer in the last 10 years and/or as an engineering educator are also encouraged to participate!

Your survey responses are completely confidential and will never be linked back to you. We will not ask for your name unless you choose to participate in a follow-up interview. In that case, we will ask for your name and email for contact purposes. Your name and email, if you choose to provide it, will be linked to your survey responses so that we can use them for interview purposes. No identifiable information will be included in any publications from this investigation. Also, there are no right or wrong answers to any of the questions in the survey. We are simply interested in your experiences and opinions, so the best way for you to help us with this study is to answer openly and honestly.
