We welcome applicants with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates and to building a diverse and inclusive department. As this is a new department, this search is open with respect to expertise and specialization, though the College currently possesses expertise in the fields of geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and hydrology. The new Chair will teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes, upper-level courses in areas such as water resources, transportation engineering, construction management, or environmental engineering, as well as electives. In addition, there is an expectation that the Chair will teach at least one course annually to non-engineers. The new Chair will establish a successful research program that incorporates undergraduates; lead the development of the department with respect to curricular refinement as well as recruitment, retention, and development of new faculty; and manage the operations of the department and its programs.
