The Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology (BCET) at Old Dominion University invites applications for an Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Education. Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate & Graduate Education is to enhance the quality and recognition of the BCET academic programs and student experience at all levels. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Promoting the continuous improvement and overall quality in all matters relating to teaching, learning, and the student experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
• Facilitating the sustainable growth in enrollment and degree production in the BCET;
• Developing, coordinating, and assessing strategies to maximize student retention and success;
• Working with the Dean and Department Chairs to define and develop academic program priorities;

• In association with the Associate Dean for Research & Innovation, identifying opportunities to enhance the teaching and research nexus; and
• Advising the Dean on all matters related to teaching, learning, and the student experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. A terminal engineering degree in a related field from an accredited university.
2. A successful scholarship record and an academic record that merits a tenured appointment at the rank of full Professor in one of the academic departments within the BCET.
3. Demonstrated commitment to academic advising as an important tool for supporting academic success for undergraduate and graduate students.
4. Demonstrated ability to engage with the community, including feeder institutions for the undergraduate and graduate programs, professionals in industry and other organizations essential to a vibrant college.
5. Strong leadership with experience serving or having served in a college’s leadership team such as associate dean, assistant dean, or department chair.
6. A demonstrated a passion for student success, recruitment, and retention, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) offers B.S., M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in chemical engineering. CBE has an enrollment of approximately 400 undergraduate students and 80 graduate students. The thirty-one collegial, supportive, and diverse CBE faculty teach and/or carry out externally funded research at more than $11 million annually. Academic Advisor-Specialists at Michigan State University 

Michigan State University College of Engineering Undergraduate Studies department is seeking four highly-motivated, student-centered Academic Advisor-Specialists.  The position will serve as an academic advisor to all levels of engineering students in all engineering majors.

This is a fixed-term, twelve-month, academic specialist position with a 100% appointment in the College of Engineering beginning early summer and is renewable contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.  This position is designated as remote-friendly, which means some of the duties may be performed remotely as mutually agreed upon between the supervisor and the successful candidate.  The exact schedule will be determined by the supervisor and the successful candidate.

Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform the full range of academic advising activities including summer academic orientation course, course and career planning, and major selection.
