The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Professor of Practice in Construction Engineering

The position is anticipated to be filled at the Assistant Professor of Practice level; however, the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Practice appointments will be considered for outstanding candidates and commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience.
The successful candidate’s primary teaching responsibility will be courses in construction engineering and management; however, the ability to teach general civil undergraduate courses and/or courses in closely related fields is desirable. While the primary duty of the Professor of Practice faculty position is teaching, reappointment, contract renewal, and promotion requires professional practice and service activities that emphasize outreach and interaction with the broader educational community and the broad community of practitioners and/or other scholarly activities consistent with the mission of the Department. The initial contract for Professor of Practice is a probationary three-year contract with reappointment considered annually by the department chair. Three-, four- or five-year contracts are available if the contract is renewed.
The required qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate in construction engineering and/or management or closely related field and the ability to teach at the undergraduate level. For exceptional candidates with a master’s degree in engineering and a minimum of ten years of industry experience, the requirement for an earned doctorate may be waived.
The desired qualifications include licensure/certification in the candidate’s specialty or the ability to acquire the license/certification during the initial contract period. Highly competitive candidates would have significant experience in construction engineering and/or management with expertise in the areas of BIM, scheduling, cost estimating, risk management, proposal/contract language and negotiations, project management, personnel management, and/or alternative contracting methods.
The Department recently added a large number of new faculty members and has an ambitious plan to continue growing. Faculty members support ABET-accredited degree programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering, more than 600 undergraduate and 100 graduate students, and numerous funded multidisciplinary research programs (see http://ceg.osu.edu/ for more information about the department).

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a potential and interest in undergraduate education; and a strong potential for and commitment to student advising, supporting our nationally recognized student chapter of ASCE, and continuous professional development in both civil engineering and engineering education.
