The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Colorado State University invites applications for the position of Department Head. The CEE Dept Head will provide vision and leadership for a growing department of world class researchers and educators. Anchored in our heritage as an international powerhouse in water and water resources engineering, we are national leaders in sustainability and resilience with a core mission of equitable access to education. Future and impact focused, we are seeking leadership to drive our vision to educate future civil, environmental, and construction engineers to be leaders in the digital transformation of our field. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment, 5-year term position. The successful candidate will hold an appointment as tenured full Professor in CEE at Colorado State University, and will report directly to the Dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. Associate professors with research and teaching records supporting promotion to full professor are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental, or Construction Engineering, or a closely related field, and a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching appropriate for appointment as a tenured, full professor. Preferred qualifications include a potential to effectively lead and evaluate the faculty and staff comprising the Department, a demonstrated ability to establish a well-funded research program and potential to play a leadership role in facilitating interdisciplinary research, a demonstrated excellence in teaching and ability to play a leadership role in facilitating educational innovation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, and demonstrated ability to bring people together on new initiatives.

The desired start date for this position is July 1, 2025.
