The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Iowa invites applications and nominations for an instructional track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction (https://opsmanual.uiowa.edu/human-resources/faculty/instructional-faculty-policy) in the general area of computer engineering, computer science and/or electrical engineering to begin in the fall semester of 2025. This position is a full-time academic year appointment and includes an initial three-year contract with the possibility of renewal. Instructional Track Faculty play an important role in advancing the teaching excellence of the College of Engineering. Promotion and advancement opportunities are available for instructional track faculty positions.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
- Commitment to teaching at every level in the ECE curriculum.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to teach at least five of the topics listed below.
- Digital Design
- Computer Networks
- Computer Architecture
- Embedded Systems
- Programming
- Software Design
- Software Engineering Project
- Internet of Things
- Robotics
- Cybersecurity
- Electric Circuits
- Electronic Instrumentation

Desirable Qualifications:
- Teaching or professional experience in the general area of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Electrical Engineering
- Team development, and/or mentorship experience
- Evidence of effective teaching and ability to incorporate impactful teaching methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to foster a welcoming and respectful environment.
