Two Year College Division

The annual business meeting of the Two Year College Division (TYCD) of ASEE was called to order by Amelito Enriquez 4:45pm.
Amelito Enriquez recognized Sheryl Sorby, the PIC III Chair, who gave an update on the ASEE board meeting held Sunday June 26. Sheryl Sorby reported that the PIC III had the overall best paper. Sheryl Sorby stated that the ASEE annual conference had 4200 attendees, and that TYCD had 26 papers and 6 sessions. . Sheryl noted that the ASEE board had taken action to resolve the ASEE’s 2 million dollar debt and 1.5 million deficit. Sheryl reported that the ASEE board is encouraging divisions to have midyear business meetings. Sheryl also reported that at the 2016 annual conference, the PIC II was trying to have a meeting for all of its division at the same time to do a report from the board followed by breakout sessions for their divisions’ business meetings. Sheryl discuss a little known program to give some annual conference attendees at $100 rebate on the conference fees.
The Paul Gordy asked Sheryl Sorby to thank the board for their generous support of the TYCD design competition.
The minutes from 2015 TYCD annual business meeting were read and approved. The treasure reported that the TYCD Bass account had a balance of $ 1,192.27 and the operating account had a balance of $ 432. There was a $500 donation from Solid Works to help in running the Two Year College Division’s 2016 Engineering Design Competition. The report was approved. A motion was made to reimburse for the materials used to build the TYCD Engineering design competition’s track as well as the plaques. A motion was made and passed to thank Solid Works for their continuing support of the Two Year College Division’s Engineering Design Competition
Paul Gordy thanked ASEE for their continued support of the Two Year College Division’s Engineering Design Competition. He noted that this was the 18th year of TYCD’s engineering design competition. 1st place went to Woody’s Warriors Tidewater Community College from 2nd place Ru Paul Tidewater Community College VB and 3rd place Sonic & Tails Cedarville University. Solid Works again donated student versions of their software to all the student participants. Paul reported that the Columbus Ohio competition will have a Christopher Columbus theme.

Membership report showed that the TYCD had 463 members and the membership had increased over last year
Elections were held to replace the division officers
Amelito Enriquez was elected to Division chair Philip Regalbuto to program chair
Dominic Dal Bello was elected as vice-chair. Nicholas Langhoff was elected secretary/ treasurer.
A discussion ensued about possible sessions for the 2016 conference and the following TYCD Initiatives:
- Working with NSF and ASEE to include the TYCD in planning.
- Doing a survey about two-year to four-year transfer programs in engineering.
Ashok Agrawal talked about how ASEE is planning to show case what is happening at two year colleges in engineering education
Amelito Enriquez adjourned the meeting at 5:56 PM.
