Welcome Letter from the Membership Chair
ASEE International Division
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the ASEE International Division, I extend a heartfelt welcome! Whether you are a long-time member or just discovering our community, we are delighted to connect with professionals who share a passion for advancing engineering education across borders.
We live in a time of global uncertainty and rapid change, where challenges are complex, but opportunities for innovation and collaboration are immense. In such times, our strength lies in unity, empathy, and mutual support. The International Division of ASEE is where engineers, educators, researchers, and other technical practitioners come together from all corners of the world to exchange knowledge and uplift and empower one another. Working with understanding and care, we help shape a more connected, resilient, and comprehensive global engineering education community.
I warmly invite you to engage with us in a number of meaningful ways. Your voice and expertise are valued here, whether through contributing to our special “Global Communication Competency in Engineering” project, participating in other collaborative International Engineering Education initiatives, or presenting your work and insights at ASEE Annual Conferences and other International meetings.
If you are not yet a member of the ASEE International Division, we would love to have you with us. Joining is simple:
- Visit www.asee.org and log in or create an ASEE account.
- Under your membership profile, navigate to “Member Communities.”
- Select “International Division” as one of your divisions of interest [ the division cost is only $5.00!]
We encourage professionals at all stages of their careers, from students to seasoned educators, to join our growing global network. Together, we can share diverse perspectives, inspire one another, and co-create educational practices that are technically sound, globally aware, and human-centered.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have ideas, questions, or would simply like to connect. We are always eager to welcome new collaborators and friends.
With warm regards and in global solidarity,
Araceli Martinez Ortiz, PhD, Professor of Engineering Education at UT San Antonio
